Captain’s Log: ‘The Train Job’
Author’s Note: The following is a report of events reconstructed from the accounts of my team, during the somewhat haphazard execution of the retrieval of ‘medical supplies’ on route to a Cult Mechanicus research facility near Gravewall.
After running through the mission plan, we approached the locomotive from the rear, using a re-purposed rail car as a means of transportation. Moving the rail car into position through the manipulation of electromagnetism, I secured it to the rear carriage whilst the others moved forwards with Yurah taking lead, as he is want to do in such situations.
Once initial resistance was dealt with, the team moved through the civilian passenger carriages and, as I am lead to believe, attempted to stage a robbery. An impromptu move on Roxy’s part, although it did offer a plausible story to any witnesses to obscure our true objective.
1 This ruthlessness, and his disregard for authority, could potentially lead to issues in the field, and should be addressed before they get worse. Yurah seems to have taken the boy under his care, so I should have a word with him.
Yurah and Baird continued moving forwards, while Satoru remained with Roxy to ensure she did not get too ‘distracted’ with her deception. Baird seemed to enjoy the experience as he ruthlessly killed any opposition that presented itself, despite the request for restraint. 1
2 The doctor later informed me that it was “all in the name of science”, and Roxy seemed to enjoy the experience, which in itself is cause for alarm. I have insisted before that Roxy is best used as a non-combat asset, but this seems to be disregarded at the best of times.
Satoru then tested another of his experimental stimulants on Roxy, provoking her more… base tendencies and causing her to attack one of the Hounds, eventually tearing through his neck with her teeth after sustaining several injuries herself. 2
After the hounds were dispatched, further resistance was minimal. The only exception was Baird’s encounter with a Hound Captain who, from the description I was given, was likely Captain Katsuro, a ruthless Sotami Nagazi that is known to hold quite the grudge. From all recounts, Baird gave him quite the run around, which is both a testament to the boy’s talent, and reason to suspect that Katsuro is going to take this defeat personality, not to mention the professional disgrace the loss of the cargo is going to bring.
After Katsuro separated the lead carriages from the rear sections, including the cargo carriage containing the medical supplies, the team opened the crate in question to discover that the medical supplies was in fact a young woman hooked up to some form of medical device that, according to Satoru, monitored her vitals and kept her in an unconscious state. It is at this stage I arrived on the scene, and after being explained the situation, asked the doctor to disconnect the girl, if safe to do so, so that we might relocate her to his workshop in Haven.
